Imagine — you are in Dubai, and someone is speaking Chinese. Or your online client sends a message in German. Or you are on Umrah and need to talk to Turkish people. How many opportunities slip away just because you do not speak the language?

AI translation earbuds claim they can translate 135 languages in real time. They clip onto your ears, the other person speaks, and you hear it in your own language. It sounds like a sci-fi movie. But does it actually work? Or is it just marketing hype?

Let us investigate.

The Problem: Language Barriers Are Everywhere

Travel outside Pakistan — the Gulf, Europe, anywhere — and language becomes the biggest problem. You know English? Fine, you can manage. But when the other person speaks their local language, then what?

There is Google Translate, but pulling out your phone for every sentence, typing, then playing it back — how awkward is that? Especially in a business meeting or when you need a quick reply.

AI earbuds claim to solve this. Clip them onto your ears, keep talking, and translation happens automatically.

How Do These Earbuds Work?

Here is the technology: the earbuds have a microphone that picks up the other person’s voice. Then via Bluetooth, the voice goes to your phone, where the AI app translates it, and the translated voice comes back to your ears. All of this happens in seconds.

The HTC NE67 model I looked at has Bluetooth V6.0 (newer version, stable connection) and an earclip design (they clip onto the ear instead of sitting inside it, per the manual). For translation, you use a companion app that translates with AI.

Important: you need a phone and internet for translation. The earbuds alone do not translate — they only handle listening and speaking. The real translation happens in the phone app.

My Honest Take: Do They Really Work?

Now the most important question. Straight answer: yes, they work — but not as perfectly as a Hollywood movie.

What is good:

  • Everyday conversation (greetings, food, directions) translates well
  • 135 languages claimed — that is huge coverage
  • Can be used as regular earbuds too (listen to music, take calls)
  • Impressive technology for the price

What are the issues (honestly):

  • There is a delay: 2-4 seconds of lag. Not like natural conversation flow.
  • Struggles with noise: In crowded places, the microphone cannot pick up voice clearly
  • Struggles with heavy accents: Thick regional accents can confuse the AI, making translations less reliable
  • Does not get idioms: Simple sentences are fine, but proverbs or slang can translate wrong
  • Internet required: No internet, no translation
  • Battery drains faster with translation on: Real-time translation keeps the mic, Bluetooth, and phone app working hard, so expect noticeably shorter battery life in translation mode

In my opinion, they are very useful for travel and basic communication. But for business deals or serious negotiations, do not rely only on these — a human translator is still better.

Price: How Much Do They Cost?

On AliExpress, these earbuds cost USD 21.43 — roughly Rs. 6,000 (Price checked October 2026). Think about it: regular earbuds also cost Rs. 6,000 — and here you get the translation feature basically for free.

On Daraz, similar AI earbuds sell for Rs. 8,000 to 12,000 (Price checked October 2026). So AliExpress is cheaper. And anyway, good earbuds alone cost Rs. 5,000-6,000 — so the translation feature is almost free.

💡 Tips & Tricks: Get the Best Translation Results

  1. Test the app first: Before the earbuds even arrive, download the translation app and check if Urdu is supported. This is the most important thing.
  2. Speak clearly and slowly: The clearer the voice, the better the translation. If you shout or speak too fast, the AI gets confused.
  3. Use short sentences: Instead of long, complex sentences, speak in short ones. Translation will be more accurate.
  4. Check offline mode: Some apps support some languages offline. Download them before traveling — internet abroad is expensive.
  5. Test them as earbuds too: Listen to music, make a call. If the basic earbud quality is bad, what is the point of translation?

Pro Tip: Best for People Going to the Gulf

Most Pakistanis travel to the Gulf — Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar. There, people speak Arabic, Tagalog, Hindi, and countless other languages. This tiny Rs. 6,000 gadget could become your biggest helper there.

Job interview, talking to a shopkeeper, or making new friends — the language barrier becomes much smaller. It is one of the cheaper options available.

Should You Buy Them?

My honest opinion: at Rs. 6,000, they are decent value for the price — but go in knowing the limitations listed above. You get translation as a bonus on top of regular Bluetooth earbuds. Even if you never use translation, you still have good earbuds.

But let me be clear: this is not magic. Do not expect perfect, movie-like translation. In real life, based on specs and user reports, they work reasonably well for common phrases — which is usually enough for travel basics.

If you travel, or work with international clients online, get them — they are decent value for the price.

FAQs

Can they translate Urdu?

Most apps support Urdu, but check the app’s language list before buying. Not every app has every language.

Do they work without a phone?

For music and calls, yes. But translation needs a phone and internet.

How long does the battery last?

Approximately 4 hours per charge (manufacturer specification).

Do both people need to wear earbuds?

No. Usually one person wears the earbuds, the other hears the translated voice from the phone speaker. Having both is even better.
